Flights were disrupted due to dense fog in Delhi. 118 flights were canceled and 16 diverted at IGI airport. Passengers have been advised to contact the airlines. The city is on orange alert and air quality is ‘very poor’.
New Delhi: There were problems in flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport due to dense fog in the city on Tuesday. Around 60 incoming and 58 outgoing flights were canceled at the airport, and 16 Delhi-bound flights were diverted to other cities due to the fog. Earlier, the Airports Authority of India had issued an advisory warning of the possibility of flight delays at some airports in north India due to dense fog in the region.
The airport authority advised passengers to stay in touch with their respective airlines through official channels for latest information on flights. It also requested passengers to plan their journey by allowing extra time for reaching the airport and for check-in procedures. Today, 30th December 2025, due to dense fog conditions, visibility levels have reduced at some airports in North India. This may impact flight operations, including delays. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines through official channels for latest flight information. Travelers should plan their travel by allowing extra time for arriving at the airport and check-in procedures. The Civil Aviation Ministry has also issued an advisory to airlines to follow passenger convenience norms to ensure that passengers are aware of their flight status.
“As dense fog and low visibility conditions are affecting flights over parts of North India, passengers are advised to check their flight status in advance, stay in touch with their airlines and allow extra time for travel,” the ministry said. Airlines have been directed to strictly follow passenger convenience norms, including timely information on flight timings, meals for passengers in case of delays, rebooking in case of cancellation or Refunds, non-denial of boarding after timely check-in, baggage allowance and prompt resolution of complaints. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is committed to passenger safety, convenience and well-being, and is closely monitoring the situation.”
Meanwhile, Delhi morning dawned with a blanket of dense fog and poisonous air as visibility reduced to almost zero in key areas like Dwarka Expressway, Dhaula Kuan and Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for dense fog, warning residents of severely reduced visibility and difficult travel conditions for the next few days. Apart from the weather, Delhi’s air quality also remained in the ‘very poor’ category with AQI at 384, prompting authorities to advise residents to limit outdoor activities.
