Following the advice of the sages, the king observed a fast on Putrada Ekadashi and after passing the Dwadashi date, returned to his city. Due to the auspicious effect of this fast, the queen conceived after a few days and after nine months gave birth to a son. When this child grew up, he became a successful king. According to religious texts, whoever listens to the story of Putrada Ekadashi and observes its fast as per the rituals, gets a beautiful and worthy son. By the grace of God he attains salvation.
