Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), included in these schemes, has given a new direction to the life of Ramesh Nag, a resident of Bijapur district. With the help of this scheme, he started his successful industry by setting up a cement bricks manufacturing unit and today he is not only earning good income but has also become a source of employment for other people.
The dream of self-employment came true through PMEGP scheme.
Ramesh Nag, a resident of Bijapur, wanted to start the business of manufacturing cement bricks for a long time. He had experience and willpower, but due to lack of sufficient capital he was not able to establish his own industry. Lack of financial resources remained the biggest obstacle for them. During this time he contacted the District Trade and Industry Centre, Bijapur. Here the officials gave them detailed information about the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) and provided guidance at every stage from the application process to the required documents.
Got a new beginning with a loan of Rs 10 lakh and a grant of Rs 3.50 lakh.
Under PMEGP scheme, a loan of Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned to Ramesh Nag in collaboration with Union Bank of India, Bijapur. Apart from this he also received margin money (grant) of about Rs 3.50 lakh. Using this financial assistance, he established a cement bricks manufacturing unit equipped with modern machines. With this, his years-old dream of starting an industry finally came true.
Income increased from cement bricks industry, local people also got employment
At present quality cement bricks are being produced in Ramesh Nag’s unit. This has increased the availability of materials required for construction works in the area. Besides, local youth and workers have also got employment opportunities through this industry. Due to the continuous expansion of the business, the financial condition of his family has become much stronger than before and their income is also continuously increasing.

Ramesh Nag says that if he had not got the benefit of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), it would have been very difficult to start his own industry. After getting government assistance, he gained confidence and today he is running his business respectfully and earning good income.
