A tiger was found dead in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, taking the number of tigers likely to die in 2025 to 55. This is the highest figure in 50 years. The cause of death is being investigated.
Bhopal: Statistics show that in 2025, the highest number of tigers will be killed in Madhya Pradesh in 50 years. This figure is after the start of Project Tiger in 1973. Recently, a male tiger aged eight to ten years has died. The dead body of this male tiger was found in Bundelkhand of Sagar area. The carcass of a male tiger was found near Hilgan village on Sunday. On information from the villagers, people from the Forest Department and Animal Husbandry Department reached there. No external injury was found on the tiger’s body. The Forest Department said that post-mortem will be conducted to find out the cause of death.
It is believed that the tiger came from Nauradehi Tiger Reserve.
Efforts have also started to find out from where the tiger came to this area. In the initial investigation, it is believed that this tiger had come from Nauradehi Tiger Reserve. Efforts are also being made to find out whether the tiger died due to electric shock. This suspicion is also deepening whether the tiger was killed or thrown into the forest. Electric wires installed to protect fields pose a threat to animals like wild boars and deer.
Flow of high-voltage current around the fields is also raising concerns. This incident of tiger’s death is being seen as negligence of the state forest department. With this, the number of tigers dying in different areas of Madhya Pradesh in 2025 has increased to 55.
