Premier League: Preview, live streaming and predicted lineups of ‘Matchweek 2’ Sunday fixtures

New Delhi: Saturday’s Premier League fixtures of Matchweek 2 were headlined by Chelsea’s 5-1 win against West Ham United, while Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal hammered Aston Villa 5-0 at the Emirates with new signing Gyokeres and Timber scoring a brace each. Burnley registered their first victory of the season by defeating Sunderland 2-0, while Bournemouth and Brentford also emerged victorious in their respective matches.

Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest: Preview and predicted line-ups

Instead of Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace played the Conference League qualifier on Thursday, as the Eagles were demoted from the Europa League due to multi-club ownership issue.

The demotion has taken some shine off Crystal Palace’s sensational summer. They have won the FA Cup and Community Shield titles, and also played their first-ever European match, defeating Fredrikstad 1-0. However, Eberechi Eze’s permanent move to Arsenal will come as a massive boost for Nottingham Forest.

The goalless draw against Chelsea in the opening weekend means that the Eagles have drawn five matches out of their seven. They have failed to beat Nottingham Forest in their last 10 Premier League meetings.

After a promising victory against Brentford at home, the Reds will look to start where they left off. Only Liverpool and Arsenal secured more points than Forest in away Premier League games last season. They managed to win 10 out of their 19 away matches.

Predicted line-ups

Crystal Palace: Henderson, Richards, Lacroix, Guehi, Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell, Sarr, Mateta, DeVenny.

Nottingham Forest: Sels, Aina, Murillo, Milenkovic, Williams, Yates, Anderson, Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi, Wood.

Everton vs Brighton: Preview and predicted line-ups

Everton will take on Brighton in the first Premier League match at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday. Both clubs ended their opening weekend with disappointing results and will look to win all three points. David Moyes’s men suffered a 1-0 defeat against newly promoted Leeds United at Elland Road.

The Toffees won their first home game for five consecutive seasons from 2017 to 2021, but lost the last three against Chelsea in 2022, Fulham in 2023, and Brighton last season. Their opponents also enter the matchweek 2 with a disappointing result on the opening weekend, as Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz netted a leveller in the 96th minute to draw the match.

Predicted line-ups

Everton: Pickford, O’Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Garner, Gueye, Iroegbunam, Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish, Barry

Brighton & Hove Albion: Verbruggen, Wieffer, Van Hecke, Dunk, De Cuyper, Baleba, O’Riley, Ayari, Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma

Fulham vs Manchester United: Preview and predicted line-ups

Manchester United and Fulham are searching for their first victory of the new Premier League season. The Red Devils have a great record against their opponent as they have won the last four matches out of the five.

Ruben Amorim’s side looked promising in their season opener against Arsenal, but suffered a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford. New summer signings Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha caused plenty of problems for the Gunners.

Despite the performance, the United manager faces tough questions, especially over his choice to bench goalkeeper André Onana and start Altay Bayindir, who was at fault for Arsenal’s winning goal at Old Trafford.

Predicted line-ups

Fulham: Bernd Leno, Kenny Tete, Joachim Andersen, Jorge Cuenca, Calvin Bassey, Sander Berge, Sasa Lukic, Harry Wilson, Josh King, Alex Iwobi, Raúl Jiménez.

Manchester United: André Onana, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Patrick Dorgu, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko.
