EVM in controversy again, Thackeray’s Shiv Sena targets Election Commission, raises these questions

The BJP led Mahayuti alliance has got a huge majority in the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Whereas the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance had to face a crushing defeat. Since the release of election results, continuous political uproar started in Maharashtra regarding EVMs. The opposition is continuously raising questions regarding EVMs. Meanwhile, on Monday, December 2, Shiv Sena UBT has once again targeted the Election Commission over the change in postal ballot and EVM data.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Secretary and Varun Sardesai, who won the Bandra East seat, has asked the Election Commission that when we were ahead on 143 seats in the postal ballot, then how did Mahavikas Aghadi come down to 46 in the EVM counting. He said that this clearly shows the possibility of malfunction in EVM and it cannot be ruled out.

‘Will go before the public regarding the issue of EVM’

Varun Sardesai said that Mahavikas Aghadi is putting the issue of EVM in front of the public. He said that even during the Lok Sabha elections, the trend of those who were ahead in postal ballot counting continued in the EVMs, but this trend was not seen in the Assembly. Sardesai asked that if Mahayuti has won the elections on the basis of Hindutva votes, then are the soldiers, administrative officers and people associated with essential services rejecting the Hindutva of BJP.

UBT MLA raised questions on election results

Varun is not only a UBT MLA but is also related to the Thackeray family. Releasing the data from the Election Commission’s site, Varun Sardesai said that the comparison of postal and EVM votes in the assembly elections has been placed before you today. During postal votes we were ahead of Mahayuti on many seats but in EVM we lagged behind Mahayuti. In Postal, we have got lead on 146 seats, Mahayuti is behind us. But when it comes to votes through EVMs, we lag behind by 15 to 20 percent. How is this possible?

He said that in the Lok Sabha elections the results of postal and EVM are matching but in the assembly elections the result is completely different. Varun said that he has put his views before everyone through the media. These figures have been declared by the Election Commission. Senior leaders of the party will decide what further decision to take on this subject.
