Europe is on top of the list of countries buying refined oils from India.

According to the think tank Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI), in the financial year 2024, India exported a petroleum product of over US $ 19 billion to the European Union, which declined to the financial year 2024–25 to $ 15 billion. According to GTRI founder Ajay Srivastava, the major reason for this is to ban petroleum products prepared from crude oil purchased by Western countries from Russia. Despite this, in the financial year 2025, India bought US $ 50.3 billion crude oil from Russia. It is about one third of the total crude oil purchased by India from US $ 143.1 billion.
Where is the petroleum product used?
Products made by refined crude oil from India are high -speed diesel, petrol (motor spirit), aviation turbine fuel (fuel), fuel ores, nepasha and kerosene. These petroleum products are used from all means of transport from bikes to rail engines in everyday life. Apart from this, they are used even in power generation, aircraft, army vehicles and submarines. Many countries are still dependent on kerosene for cooking.

After American and China, India is the third largest country in the world to consume oil. That is why it is also the third largest oil importer in the world. It imports about 85 percent of its needs. It is not that India is buying oil only from Russia. This has increased the purchase of oil from Russia in recent years due to the Ukraine War in recent years, otherwise Iraq was the first place in selling oil to India between April 2021 and January 2022, which gave more than 22 billion $ 22 billion oil to India. After this, Russia was followed by Russia after Saudi Arabia, UAE, America, Nigeria, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman respectively in the countries that exported oil to India.
According to Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri, first 27 countries used to sell oil to India. At present, this number has increased to 40. India is currently importing oil from 40 countries including Middle East countries, America, Brazil, Canada, Guyana and Suriname besides Russia.

Venezuela has the biggest stores of crude oil. According to OPEC, Venezuela has a certified oil reserves of 303 billion barrels. This is followed by a reserves of 267 billion barrels near Saudi Arabia, 209 billion barrels near Iran, 163 billion barrels near Canada and 145 billion barrels of Iraq.
