New Delhi: Virat Kohli made an impressive return to domestic cricket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, playing for Delhi after a long gap from List A cricket.
The 37-year-old looked in red-hot form in his first two outings, as he scored 208 runs at an impressive strike rate to underline his standing as one of the greatest List A batters. His performances guided Delhi to consecutive victories and helped him create history as the fastest player to reach 16,000 List A runs.
Virat Kohli’s form was key to Delhi’s back-to-back wins
Kohli made his comeback on December 24 against Andhra at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. While chasing 299, he played a brilliant knock of 131 off 101 balls, mixing classic shots with measured aggression. The innings guided Delhi secure a commanding four-wicket win and helped him cross the 16,000-run milestone.
He carried his impressive form two days later against Gujarat in an Elite Group match at the same venue. Kohli played an impactful knock of 77 off 61 balls, reaching his fifty in just 29 deliveries to lay the foundation for Delhi’s innings. He also made a difference in the field, as he grabbed two key catches as Delhi edged out a close seven-run victory. Kohli was named Player of the Match.
