In her filmy journey, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore has given us memorable performances in movies like Kashmir Ki Kali, Safar, Amar Prem, among others.
She started acting at the age of 14 with Satyajit Ray’s acclaimed Bengali drama The World of Apu. She not only carved her niche in Bollywood but in Bengali cinema too. Now, after 14 years she is all set to return to big screens to captivate audiences with her acting. Sharmila will star in Sunil Sukthankar’s directorial Outhouse.
Recently, Sharmila Tagore set the OTT platform ablaze with her performance in the family drama Gulmohar, which also earned Best Feature Film in Hindi, Best Screenplay (Dialogues) and Special Mention (Feature Film) award at the 70th National Film Awards. Now, she is ready to be back on the silver screen.
Directed by Sunil Sukthankar and backed by Mohan Agashe, the film explores unexpected friendship, intergenerational bonds, and the transformative power of trust and empathy. Besides Sharmila, the film also stars her Gulmohar co-star Mohan Agashe in the movie. Outhouse is scheduled to be released on December 20.
Speaking about the film, Agashe said, “Outhouse is a wholesome family film that offers some lovely, meaningful moments to brighten your holiday season. It is a narrative that teaches us that even the simplest interactions can result in the most profound transformations.”

Directed by Rahul V Chitella, Gulmohar received an overwhelming response from both fans and critics, which ultimately made them National Award winners in four categories. The film also featured Manoj Bajpayee, Simran, Suraj Sharma, Amol Palekar and Kaveri Seth among others in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, Sharmila recently made an appearance at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa.
