After returning to power in Jharkhand, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is now preparing to give another blow to the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). JMM is working on a plan to bring back those leaders who left the party before the elections. The name of former CM Champai Soren is at the forefront in the list.
Champai Soren left JMM and joined BJP just before the elections. It is being said that Hemant Soren is now busy in getting all his senior leaders back like Mamata Banerjee. After registering victory in Bengal in 2021, Mamata had brought back many big leaders who had gone from TMC to BJP.
Why is Champai Soren’s name discussed?
Champai Soren is currently the MLA from Seraikelan assembly seat. Champai is the former CM of Jharkhand and a founding member of JMM. This time the JMM alliance has faced defeat on only one seat out of 28 reserved for tribals. That seat is Seraikela of Champai Soren.
After Jharkhand elections, JMM National General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya has given a statement regarding his return. Supriyo said that if Champai Dada wants to come, we will welcome him. JMM’s door will be open for him.
Both were not attackers in the election campaign
Even during the election campaign, Hemant Soren did not attack Champai. On the other hand, Champai also refrained from making personal attacks on Hemant and the Soren family throughout the election.
Not only this, on Friday Birsa Munda’s great grandson died in RIMS Hospital, Ranchi. He was admitted here after being injured in a road accident. BJP has accused the hospital of negligence in this matter.
From Babu Lal Marandi to Arjun Munda have cornered the government in this matter, but Champai was not seen raising questions on the government in the entire matter.
There are two types of discussions going on in the political circles of Ranchi regarding Champai.
1. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha can make Champai Soren an MLA from his seat Saraikelan by offering him politics in Delhi. Champai Soren’s son Babu Lal Soren had contested on the BJP symbol from Ghatshila seat this time, but lost the election.
2. Like before, Champai should join JMM and become a minister in Hemant Soren’s government.
Leaders have been returning before also
In the 2014 elections, Simon Marandi and Hemlal Murmu left Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and joined BJP. Both the leaders were counted among the powerful leaders within JMM. Before 2019, JMM got both the leaders returned.
Recently, former MLA of Baharagora Assembly Kunal Shadangi has returned. Shadangi was once considered close to Hemant Soren. Before the 2019 assembly elections, Shadangi left JMM and joined BJP.
These leaders had also joined BJP
There is a long list of leaders who left Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and joined BJP. Shibu Soren’s elder daughter-in-law Sita Soren had joined BJP before the Lok Sabha elections. Sita has lost the Lok Sabha elections from Dumka and the Assembly elections from Jamtara.
Similarly, before the assembly elections, Borio MLA Lobin Hembram had also left JMM and joined BJP. However, Hembram also could not win the election from Borio seat.
Former MLA from Littipara seat Dinesh William Marandi had also left JMM and joined BJP. BJP could not win even in Littipara.
