In Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, a former soldier who risked his life in the Kargil and Sri Lanka wars appealed to the Superintendent of Police for the safety of his life and property. In this regard, the ex-serviceman has reached the Superintendent of Police office and submitted an application. A man had assaulted the soldier a few days ago. Troubled by this, he has lodged his complaint.
Former naval officer Sitaram Gupta, resident of Dildarnagar, Ghazipur and awarded medals of Kargil war, while giving the application, said that he is associated with social service. He has been a candidate for the post of President from Nagar Panchayat Dildarnagar in the last elections. Besides, he has been continuously raising his voice against corruption in the works done in the Nagar Panchayat area. Sitaram alleges that being angry over this, he was threatened with death by the Nagar Panchayat President and his supporters.
Deadly attack on former naval officer
A fatal attack was also carried out on him on 25th November. In the application, the former naval officer said that he suffered serious injuries in the attack. An FIR has also been registered in the matter at Dildarnagar police station. While praying to the Superintendent of Police, he has demanded to provide security and to include the name of the Nagar Panchayat President as the main conspirator in the FIR and to impose Section 109 on the accused.
Ex-soldiers arrived with medals on their chests
The state president of the Ex-Servicemen Welfare and Development Committee present during this time said that if the victim does not get justice, we will be forced to protest in the entire state. A whole team of ex-servicemen had come to meet the Superintendent of Police. All the ex-servicemen had arrived wearing their caps as well as the medals received during duty on their chests and all of them have demanded action in this matter.
