Manish Tiwari did not get the responsibility in the organizational reshuffle of Punjab Congress. After this, referring to 45 years of service, he wrote on X, ‘I wish I had a medicine for insecurity, whatever will happen will happen.’
Manish Tiwari The great brainstorming that started in Punjab Congress regarding the 2027 assembly elections has now transformed into a political arena. The new organizational appointments made by the All India Congress Committee ($AICC$) for Punjab have created a suspense in the politics of the state, which has given vent to the simmering discontent within the party. The most shocking thing about this entire reshuffle was that one of the most senior Congress leaders, Chandigarh MP Manish Tiwari, was not given a place in any committee or organizational responsibility. Manish Tiwari’s pain came out immediately after this unexpected step of the party. He shared such a mysterious and sharp post on the social media platform
‘I wish I had medicine for insecurity…’ Where was Manish Tiwari pointing to?
Instead of openly expressing his displeasure over his neglect, Manish Tiwari used very diplomatic but sharp words. Sharing a newspaper article titled ‘Marginalized Manish Tewari’, he wrote: “I wish I had a cure or antidote to the insecurities of individuals and institutions! Still, the Congress has given me a lot in the last 45 years and I have dedicated my entire life to the service of the Indian National Congress over the decades. Now what will be, will be.” This statement of Manish Tiwari clearly indicates that there are some forces within the party who are feeling ‘insecure’ due to his growing stature. The statement of the leader, who spent his youth in the service of the party for 45 years, that ‘whatever will happen will happen’, is being considered as a sign of a big storm for the future of Congress.

Mention of 45 years of service, but no place in the organization
Manish Tiwari is counted among the senior leaders of Congress. He is the current MP from Chandigarh and has previously represented Anandpur Sahib and Ludhiana in Punjab in the Lok Sabha. Political discussions have intensified as Tiwari, who spent more than four decades in the party, did not get any responsibility in the new organizational structure of Punjab Congress. Words like “45 years of service” and “whatever will happen” in his post indicated that he did not seem satisfied with the decision, although he did not openly express his displeasure.

Which leaders did Congress express confidence in before the 2027 elections?
The root of this entire controversy is the press release issued by $AICC$ General Secretary KC Venugopal on Wednesday, which was implemented with immediate effect after the green signal from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Big faces got a place in these new committees formed to conquer Punjab, but Tiwari’s name remained missing:
- Election Campaign Committee: Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has been made its president.
- Core Committee: Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has been appointed chairman of this very powerful committee.
- Election Management and Coordination Committee: Vijay Inder Singla has been entrusted with this responsibility.
- Manifesto Committee: Amar Singh will lead this committee.
Apart from this, Amarinder Singh Raja Waring will continue as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Pratap Singh Bajwa will remain the Leader of the Legislative Party (CLP). The party has also appointed three new working presidents in the form of Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Raj Kumar Verka and Sangat Singh Giljian.
Three-time MP and zero responsibility: Why did the high command do this?
The biggest suspense for political analysts is that why a strong face like Manish Tiwari, three-time Lok Sabha MP from Ludhiana, Anandpur Sahib and now Chandigarh, was completely ignored? Manish Tiwari is considered an outspoken and educated face of Congress not only in Punjab but also at the national level. When a leader who claims to have raised the party from the ground up in Punjab is left out of the election strategy of his own state, then questions are bound to be raised. There is a strong discussion in the political circles whether this decision is the result of internal factionalism of Punjab Congress, or is the high command trying to give a different message to Tiwari?
‘Whatever will happen will happen’ – the beginning of a new political storm in Punjab Congress?
This statement of Manish Tiwari has come at a time when Punjab Congress is already struggling with internal strife. In the past too, whenever senior leaders have used words like ‘insecurity’ and ‘sacrificing one’s life for the party’, it has resulted in major political upheavals. This suspenseful attitude of the sitting MP from Chandigarh makes it clear that he is not going to remain silent. By saying ‘whatever will happen will happen’, he has completely put the ball in the court of the high command. Now it remains to be seen whether the Congress leadership searches for this ‘medicine’ of Manish Tiwari in time, or whether a new rebellion takes birth within the party even before the 2027 elections are ready in Punjab.
