Indian celebrities are one of the highest taxpayers in the country. They have several incomes including business ventures, production houses, real estate, owning sports teams and many others.
Notably last year, A list Bollywood superstar paid Rs 92 crore in taxes. In September this year, Fortune India released a list of tax-playing celebrities. The list has been topped by Shah Rukh Khan who paid Rs 92 crore of tax. The actor has three blockbuster releases Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. After SRK, the next celebrity who paid the highest tax was Thalapathy Vijay. The GOAT actor paid 80 crore tax in 2023-24.
The next came to the list is Salman Khan who paid Rs 75 crore. Amitabh Bachchan was the fourth highest taxpayer who paid Rs 71 crore. Virat Kohli is the fifth highest taxpayer Indian celebrity who paid Rs 66 crore in 2023-24. Kareena Kapoor is the highest female taxpayer celebrity who ranks out of 10 but pays Rs 20 crore.
Coming back to Shah Rukh Khan, his comeback movie which was released in January 2023 earned Rs 1055 crore worldwide. His second blockbuster film Jawan which had a September release earned Rs 1160 crore worldwide. His last movie Dunki was released in December 2023 and had a box office collection of Rs 454 crore worldwide. The profit share and earnings notably made SRK the highest paid actor in the country after almost a decade.
On the work front, SRK will be next seen in King. The Sujoy Ghosh directorial also stars SRK’d daughter Suhana Khan. Notably, it will be the silver screen debut of Suhana.
On the other hand, Thalapathy Vijay’s blockbuster Tamil movie The Greatest Of All Time which was released in September this year, had earned Rs 457 crore worldwide. The actor charged Rs 200 crore for the film.
