Imran Khan on promoting films on Bigg Boss sets
Bigg Boss is one of the most-watched Indian TV shows, and recently we had Bigg Boss 19, hosted by Salman Khan. During the conversation with Samdish, Imran Khan was asked whether he watches any reality shows. To this, he said that he had been to Bigg Boss to promote films and called it a terrifying experience.
Mentioning it was 10-12 years ago, Imran said, “It is very disturbing. It is terrifying. It is the most twisted social experiment. I am talking about 12 years ago, but now they have changed the set. At that time, they had a giant wirehouse studio in Lonavala.”
He shared that after entering, he needed to leave his electronic devices behind and wear black colored overalls. Inside the wirehouse, the set is big. “First, you enter the wirehouse, and then you see the black mask. All the way around the house, periphery, is a passageway. All the innerwalls of the house are lined with mirrors, and behind the mirrors, where the passageway goes, is painted in black. It is very narrow, and that is where the camera crew is, so we walked into this passageway and does a full circuit of the house. So you do all the way through where the camera guys are sitting, and we are wearing black so they don’t see us, and there is a glass here now for those guys who are sitting in the living room, and there is a wall here, but they cannot see us,” he said.
Imran further shared that they were on the other side of the glass and closely watching two people, which felt like a zoo. They had to walk quietly and stopped at a place where they were separated with much distance.
“It feels dystopic. They have a dedicated viewership but how many who are watching are saying oh my god this is horrific and dystopic but they are saying what a great show. The whole thing is weird and creepy. They give them less food and try to create an environment where people will be reactive and lash out. They are like making them fight for the food. That’s horrible man. These are bullshit perspective of ideas,” Imran said.
