Mallika Sherawat, who most recently appeared with Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, was slated to appear in Netflix’s The Royals , a contemporary Indian monarchy modern-day series.
She was chosen to portray Ishaan Khatter’s mother. Mallika however, declined the part and Sakshi Tanwar was later offered it.
Revealing why she turned down the role, Sherawat said, “I was promised something and what translated looked very lame to me on paper. I felt cheated and let down, So, then I didn’t want to be a part of that.”
Mallika’s team earlier told ETimes that she left he project in February due to creative disagreements with the production crew. The position did not fit the original description. She finally made the decision to leave after multiple conversations.

Ishaan was spotted in a royal avatar at the beginning of The Royal’s teaser. Pictures of Ishaan and Bhumi dancing together and exchanging looks soon went viral on social media. So far, the show’s royal setting and the actor have been revealed via the teaser. The series’ release date has not yet been disclosed.
Meanwhile, Mallika said she feels underutilized in the comedy genre and that she would like to appear in more comedic movies. Mallika won over fans with her roles in the hilarious comedy films Welcome, starring Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor, and Dhamaal. “People still have not tapped my potential. I want the industry to use my comic timing, and my potential in more comedies because I enjoy doing comedy, ” she said in an interview.
Mallika appeared in Rajat Kapoor’s RK/RKay (2022) before Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Mallika, who made a big impression with her first movie, Khwahish, has been in a number of popular movies, including Dhamaal, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, and Murder.
