Bellingham Hopes To Play Alongside Alexander-Arnold Next Season Amid Transfer Speculation

Jude Bellingham remained cautious when asked about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s potential move to Real Madrid. Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool ends this season, sparking speculation about his future.

Bellingham, who has excelled at Real Madrid since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2023, will face Liverpool with his team in an upcoming Champions League match at Anfield.

Despite the rumours, Bellingham refrained from commenting on the possibility of Alexander-Arnold joining him at Real Madrid. He expressed a desire to play alongside Alexander-Arnold next season, regardless of the club. “I’ll be playing alongside him next season for England anyway, so hopefully, that’ll be a guarantee,” Bellingham stated during a press conference.

Bellingham emphasised respect for Alexander-Arnold’s current status as a Liverpool player. He said it would be inappropriate to discuss potential transfers at Anfield. “He’s a Liverpool player, and I think it’s disrespectful to come to his home today and speak about something that could be misconstrued,” he added.

Alexander-Arnold has been instrumental for Liverpool this season. In the Premier League, he ranks second in key passes with 20. In the Champions League, he has attempted six crosses and provided one assist. Notably, half of Liverpool’s goals in the competition have come from crosses.

The right-back missed Liverpool’s recent 3-2 victory over Southampton due to injury. However, he might return against Real Madrid. Arne Slot mentioned that while Alexander-Arnold is part of the squad, he may not start. “Trent is in the squad but he will not be available to start,” Slot explained.

Slot further mentioned that while it would be ideal for Alexander-Arnold not to play unless necessary, he could feature briefly if required. “He can maybe make a few minutes; in an ideal world he maybe doesn’t,” Slot noted.

Bellingham also highlighted his friendship with Alexander-Arnold and wished him success in general but not against Real Madrid. “He’s a really good mate of mine, and I want him to do well normally, obviously not tomorrow night,” Bellingham remarked.

The situation remains uncertain as both players prepare for their Champions League encounter. The outcome of this match could influence future decisions regarding Alexander-Arnold’s career path.
