In view of inflation and the continuous increase in the cost of farming, there has been a demand for a long time that the amount of Samman Nidhi should be increased. At present, this amount is sent directly to bank accounts in three installments, which provides immediate relief in purchasing fertilizers and seeds. The biggest strength of this scheme is that money comes directly into the account without middlemen. Now it is expected that in the upcoming budget, the government can take a historic decision to increase this amount, which will give a new impetus to the rural economy.

When Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presents the budget on February 1, 2026, the entire country will have an eye on the proposals of the Agriculture Ministry. Experts believe that keeping in mind the upcoming elections and the welfare of farmers, a ‘big gift’ for the agriculture sector may be hidden in this budget. Since the inception of the scheme (2019), the government has maintained transparency in fund distribution and more than Rs 61,000 crore has been spent in the financial year 2023-24 alone.
