Violence broke out in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday over the survey of the Shahi Masjid. Four people died and more than 30 were injured in the violence. The SDM and some policemen were also among the injured. Questions were also raised regarding the re-survey of the Shahi Masjid. Allegations were made that re-survey of the mosque was ordered by Sambhal DM Rajendra Pensia.
Regarding the survey of the Shahi Masjid, Sadar Zafar Ali of the Jama Masjid Committee had said that he was not informed by the administration about the survey of the mosque. DM Rajendra Pensia said that Sadar Zafar Ali’s claim is absolutely wrong. He was given proper information by the administration.
Claims are being made that the DM had ordered the survey for the second time in the mosque… On this, District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia said that a clear order regarding this was issued by the Advocate Commissioner on the night of 23rd November. It was clearly stated in this order that a survey would be conducted in the mosque from 7 am on 24th November.
25 arrested, internet service closed even today
At the same time, after the violence, there is heavy police deployment in Sambhal. However, schools opened on Tuesday. Shops opened in many areas. The situation seems normal this morning. Police have arrested 25 people so far. However, internet service is still closed today.
An official said that the police is monitoring the area with drone cameras. Other accused are being identified on the basis of CCTV camera footage. 7 FIRs have been registered in this case. MP Zia Ur Rehman Work and Sambhal MLA’s son Suhail Iqbal have also been made accused.

SP Krishna Kumar Vishnoi said that the people who created disturbance in the area will be compensated for the loss. In Sambhal, the police did not open fire, only used plastic bullets. Police are deployed at every nook and corner in the area. The entry of outsiders is banned till 30 November.
Regarding the Shahi Mosque in Sambhal, the Hindu side is claiming that it is the place of Harihar Temple. The Hindu side had also gone to court regarding this. The court had ordered a survey of the mosque. Violence broke out after the survey on 24 November and four people died.
