Till November 25, 37,030 tonnes of paddy has been purchased from farmers in various districts of Bihar. Under the Kharif marketing season 2024-25, paddy procurement started from November 1. The price of ordinary paddy is Rs 2300 per quintal and A grade is Rs 2320 per quintal.
Ryoti farmers can sell maximum 250 quintals of paddy and non-ryoti farmers can sell maximum 100 quintals of paddy to packs and trade boards after completing the procedure prescribed by the state government.
Payment arrangement within 48 hours
The maximum moisture content of paddy has been fixed at 17 percent by the Government of India. Arrangements have been made by the state government to pay the price of their paddy to the farmers within 48 hours. Till November 25, a total of 37030 tonnes of paddy has been purchased by PACS and trade boards of all the districts of the state.
Good performance in paddy procurement
Supaul, Araria, Sitamarhi districts are showing good performance in paddy procurement and in the departmental review, other districts have been instructed to speed up paddy procurement. Even though the election of PACS manager is under process, the work of purchasing paddy is continuing as before.
