Los Angeles Knight Riders vs Washington Freedom: Knight Riders franchise has registered its name in golden letters in the history of sports. It has become the first global cricket brand in the world to build its own international cricket stadium. The first match of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 was officially successfully held at the Knight Riders Cricket Ground in Los Angeles. However, in this historic and special inaugural match, the host team Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) had to face defeat at the hands of Washington Freedom.

Washington Freedom’s one-sided victory

In this historic match played between Los Angeles Knight Riders and Washington Freedom, Washington team showed its dominance and won. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Los Angeles Knight Riders team looked completely helpless in front of the sharp bowling of Washington Freedom. The team’s star batsmen Colin Munro, Andre Fletcher and Rovman Powell could not stay at the crease for long. Due to which Puri could not even play 20 overs and was limited to a paltry score of only 108 runs in 17.5 overs.

Knight Riders did not have a good start. Opener Andre Fletcher was out early. Colin Munro also contributed only 25 runs. After this, Rovman Powell played the fastest innings and scored 30 runs in 19 balls, but he too could not convert it into a big score. On the other hand, Washington Freedom’s bowling was excellent. Saurabh Netrawalkar took 3 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs. Mitchell Owen also took 3 wickets. Apart from these, Ben Dwarshuis and Ian Holland got 2-2 successes.

Washington Freedom won the match by 6 wickets

Freedom’s team started aggressively to chase the target, however, Sanil Narine gave the initial shock by taking 2 wickets. Mitchell Owen and Andreas Goss were disposed of cheaply. Steve Smith (captain) remained unbeaten after scoring 40 runs. At the same time, Mark Chapman scored a brilliant 34 runs. Due to which Washington Freedom achieved the target at the loss of 4 wickets in 17.1 overs.
