Constable Kiranpal was murdered on 23 November in Govindpuri area of Delhi. Now the police has encountered Rocky alias Raghav, the accused in this murder case. An officer said that the miscreant Rocky started firing on the team that went to arrest him. In such a situation, the joint team of local police and special cell had to retaliate, in which the criminal was seriously injured and died.
An official said that late in the evening of November 23, Delhi Police received information about the whereabouts of the main accused, who was identified as Raghav alias Rocky, resident of D Block, Sangam Vihar. Following the information, a joint team of Special Cell, Narcotics Cell and South East District went to the area connecting Sangam Vihar to Surajkund Road. The accused was identified.
Pistol and cartridges found from the criminal
Policemen asked the accused to surrender for questioning. Meanwhile, Rocky opened fire on the police team with his pistol. In self-defence, the police retaliated, due to which Rocky got injured by the bullet. He was immediately taken to ESIC Hospital, Okhla, where he died. A .32 bore pistol and two live cartridges have been recovered from the accused from the spot.
The incident was carried out in Govindpuri
On the intervening night of 22/23, Constable Kiranpal along with Constable Banai Singh and Constable Sunil were deployed at a police booth near Arya Samaj Mandir in Govindpuri police station area of South Eastern district. At around 4:45 in the morning, Constable Sunil came out of the booth for some official work. On returning, constable Kiranpal was found missing and his phone was also not answered.
There were deep wound marks on the body
Policemen found constable Kiranpal in an injured condition in street number 13 near Govindpuri. He was attacked with a knife. He was in an unconscious state. The injured constable was taken to Majidiya Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. In this case, the team of South East District and Crime Branch of Delhi Police had earlier arrested the accused named Krish and Deepak. It was he who told Rocky’s name during interrogation.
