Nearly a year after the major stampede during the pre-release event of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre, a chargesheet has been filed by the Hyderabad police in the case, naming actor Allu Arjun among the accused.
As per Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, the chargesheet has been filed. “Police cited 23 persons as accused, including Allu Arjun,” Sajjanar said.
Chargesheet Against Allu Arjun
The chargesheet was filed two days ago before the IX Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Nampally. A total of 23 individuals have been named as accused in the case. Allu Arjun is listed as Accused No. 11, while the management of Sandhya Theatre has been cited as the primary accused.
Police have charged the Pushpa 2 actor with abetment, alleging that Allu came to the theatre halls with his cast without any prior information, which led to a massive rush of fans and ultimately caused the stampede in the busy RTC X Roads area.
What happened during the Pushpa 2 stampede?
On December 4, 2024, during the premiere of Pushpa 2, a major stampede broke out outside Sandhya Theatre at RTC X Roads after the crowd was informed about Allu Arjun’s presence. The situation soon went out of control, leaving a 32-year-old woman dead and two others, including a young boy, injured.
The incident took place between 10:30 pm and 11:00 pm while Allu Arjun was at the theatre watching the film, which was set for a pan-India release the next day.
The deceased, identified as Revathi, was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by police before being rushed to the hospital. However, the 32-year-old succumbed to her injuries.
Investigations later revealed that insufficient crowd management measures played a role in causing the stampede during the star-studded event.
