During the investigation, the police got information about his exploits from Delhi NCR to Dubai. One of his associates has also been arrested along with him.
ADCP P Dinesh said on Thursday that the name of the arrested fake DG is Anil Katiyal. Who lives in Greater Kailash, Delhi, while his associate Vinod Kapoor, a resident of Gurugram, Haryana, has also been arrested. Anil Katiyal had described himself as a 1979 batch IPS of Manipur cadre and had recommended Vinod Kapoor to the Police Commissioner and DCP Trans Hindon in Ghaziabad. He told that Anil Katiyal’s partner Vinod Kapoor is the owner of Delhi Construction Company and it has constructed hangar runway compound wall at important places like Delhi, Palam, Sarsawa Airport and Gwalior Airbase. A case of fraud is pending against Vinod Kapoor in Indirapuram police station. For whose recommendation Anil Katiyal met Ghaziabad Police Commissioner and DCP Trans Hindon. Not only this, two policemen were also suspended on the complaint of Anil Katiyal.
He told that Anil Katiyal is originally a resident of WA-153 GK First, New Delhi, his father Chetram Katiyal has been an IRS officer, and Anil Katiyal’s primary education was in St. Columbus School and college studies in St. Stephen’s College since 1973. Till 1978. After this, Anil Katiyal gave the UPSC examination in the year 1979, in which he failed, after which he went to Yale University, USA to study for PhD in the year 1979 and left his PhD studies midway in the year 1980. Came back to India, after that Anil Katiyal worked as a manager in Hindustan Lever (then named) Company from 1980 to 2000. He was appointed as Chief General Manager in Yamaha Company from 2000 to 2005 and retired while working as Vice President, Corporate Affairs in Vodafone Company from 2005 to 2015. After this, accused Anil Katiyal started cheating people by introducing himself as a 1979 batch IPS.
He told that on 20th November, UNI Neeraj Rathore PRO at Police Station Sahibabad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Office Zone Trans Hindon Commissionerate, Ghaziabad, with the aim of earning financial gain and getting unfair advantage in the case, hid his true identity by pretending to be a retired IPS of 1979 batch from the government. There was a threat of creating obstruction in the work and filing a case against the police and getting life imprisonment. After which the police became suspicious and investigated his horoscope and the case turned out to be fake.
