Uproar over Salman Khan’s advertisement
The public blindly trusts the shining stars of Bollywood. When a superstar like Salman Khan comes on screen and praises a product, the common man not only buys it but also considers it safe. But is this belief really correct? A consumer court of Kota, Rajasthan has raised serious questions on this trust. The matter is related to the advertisement of Pan Masala, but now it is not limited to just one advertisement. Taking a strict stance, the court has ordered Salman Khan to appear in the court personally.
Saffron worth Rs 4 lakh in a sachet of Rs 5
This whole controversy started with a basic question, which should come in the mind of every consumer. Kota’s lawyer Inder Mohan Singh Honey has filed a complaint in the Consumer Commission that Rajshree Pan Masala and Salman Khan are misleading the public. Advertisements claim that this pan masala is “saffron rich”.
The complainant has argued that the price of real saffron in the market is around Rs 4 lakh per kg. In such a situation, how is it possible that the company is providing real saffron in a sachet worth just Rs 5? The allegation is that this is just a play on words, through which the youth are being confused and pushed towards harmful products like pan masala, which ultimately lead to fatal diseases like cancer.
Doubt deepens on Salman’s signature
The matter became more complicated when questions were raised on the authenticity of the documents during the court proceedings. During the hearing held on December 9, the complainant drew the court’s attention to a very serious issue. The reply and ‘power of attorney’ were submitted in the court on behalf of Salman Khan.
The complainant claims that the signatures on these documents do not match the real signatures of Salman Khan. He argued that the signatures that Salman Khan had signed in Jodhpur jail and the court there are completely different from the signatures present on this power of attorney. This simply means that fake documents have probably been presented in the court, which falls under the category of a serious crime.
‘Saamna’ will appear in court on January 20
Kota Consumer Court has taken these arguments very seriously. The court has ordered that Salman Khan’s signatures will now be forensically examined so that milk can be separated from water. Not only this, the court has directed Salman Khan to present himself in the court on January 20. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the lawyer RC Choubey who had notarized the documents has also been summoned.
