KGMU Love Jihad issue is gaining momentum. The female doctor in the pathology department has made allegations of religious conversion, mental pressure and exploitation. A 5-member committee was formed for investigation, the accused doctor was suspended, FIR registered and the arrest process intensified.

King George Medical University (KGMU), one of the prestigious medical institutions of the country, is once again in the headlines due to serious allegations. This matter related to the Pathology Department has now become not just a personal dispute, but a big question related to the internal security, ethics and campus culture of the institute. Amidst allegations of religious conversion, mental pressure and spreading fundamentalism, the university administration has ordered a thorough investigation into the entire episode.

5 member inquiry committee formed, report in 7 days

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the KGMU administration has constituted a 5-member inquiry committee. This committee includes Dr. Sumit Rungta, Dr. KK Singh, Prof. Suresh Kumar and Prof. Haider Abbas has been included. The committee will have to submit its report within seven days, which will be given directly to KGMU Vice Chancellor Dr. Sonia Nityanand.

What are the allegations of the victim, the whole matter came to light after the suicide attempt.

The victim female doctor alleges that Dr. Rameezuddin Nayak alias Rameez Malik, resident of the pathology department, pressurized her for conversion and marriage on the pretext of love affair. Physical abuse has also come to light in the allegations. The victim says that the accused was running a network related to religious conversion within the campus.

On December 17, the victim, under mental stress, tried to commit suicide by taking an overdose of medicine. When his condition worsened, he was admitted to the ICU of KGMU. When this information came to light during treatment, the entire matter came to light and the university administration came into action.

Family claims: Has converted before too

The family members of the victim have alleged that the accused doctor had secretly converted another Hindu girl and married her this year. After this claim, the seriousness of the matter has increased further, due to which the scope of investigation has been expanded.

During investigation, the accused doctor claimed before the Vishakha Committee that the relationship between the two was consensual and no pressure was exerted. However, after hiding the marriage, changing the statement and contradictions in the statements of colleagues came to light, the administration’s stance became strict. As the situation worsened, the KGMU administration has suspended the accused doctor with immediate effect. Besides, he has also been banned from entering the campus. It is being told that the accused doctor is currently absconding.

The matter reached CM Yogi, action speeded up

The victim complained about the entire matter directly to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, after which the government assured a quick and fair investigation. The Chief Minister clearly said that the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances. After this, the police have registered the FIR, the process of magisterial statement has started and efforts have been intensified to arrest the accused.

After the matter came to light, the victim was allotted a hostel, but she expressed her desire to live with her father. Keeping security in mind, the administration has allowed him to live with his father inside the campus.

Pressure from student organizations, investigation into syndicate angle also

Student organizations like ABVP and NMO have intensified their demand for strict action regarding this matter. At the same time, the investigation committee is now deeply investigating the alleged radical activities in the department and the role of possible syndicate.

This case related to KGMU is no longer limited to just one accused or one victim. It is also raising big questions regarding the internal monitoring system of the institute, campus security and mental safety of the students. Now everyone’s eyes are on the report of the inquiry committee and the further legal action.
