Bengaluru: The husband of a new bride who committed suicide in Bengaluru has also been found dead. Suraj, husband of deceased Ganvi, has been found dead. Police say it is a suicide. Sooraj’s mother Jayanti has also been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Both of them absconded after Ganvi’s death. Both of them had fled to Nagpur. Only after this the husband was found dead and the mother’s condition was critical.
Ganvi died just yesterday. He committed suicide soon after returning from his honeymoon in Sri Lanka. Relatives had alleged that the reason for suicide was dowry harassment. Relatives had filed a complaint against Sooraj, his mother Jayanti and his brother. At the same time, the police is preparing for a detailed investigation in this matter. The Women’s Commission has also expressed concern. The Women’s Commission has written a letter to the Karnataka government expressing concern over the increasing violence against women.
The new bride committed suicide soon after returning from her honeymoon in Channasandra, Bengaluru. Ganvi, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar, committed suicide by hanging herself. Ganvi hanged herself at her home in Ramamurthy Nagar soon after returning from her honeymoon in Sri Lanka. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but the girl’s life could not be saved. Father Shashi alleged that his daughter committed suicide due to brutal torture from her husband and in-laws.
Shashi alleges that despite arranging a royal marriage for Gunvi, husband Sooraj and his mother were harassing Jayanti and demanding dowry. Ramamurthy Nagar police had registered a case in this matter. A case has been registered under sections like dowry demand, harassment and abetment to suicide. Ganvi and Suraj got married one and a half months ago. But, on the insistence of the in-laws, the wedding reception took place after a month. Rs 40 lakh was spent on the party at Bengaluru Palace Ground. After this, both of them went to Sri Lanka for a 10-day honeymoon, but returned after only 5 days. Shashi alleged that after this Suraj asked her to take her daughter.
