New Delhi: Filmmaker and former CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has reiterated that Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja will never separate because their relationship is based on friendship. He told TV9 English, “Both of them keep doing these kinds of things, and their relationship is more about friendship. I still continue to believe they will never separate, even if they threaten to go to court. There is never going to be a real separation. We all know that Govinda has been living in the bungalow that is just opposite the building Sunita lives in. In a way, they live separately, but they are still together.”
Pahlaj Nihalani believes that issues in his personal life do not affect Govinda’s acting career, but his spiritual side scares Bollywood. He said, “Govinda’s career does not get affected, but the industry is scared of his spiritual side and superstitious side. But it is the same Govinda who does wonders when he is on a political platform and makes enough money, and comes back.”
There has always been the age-old complaint about his lateness on the set. Addressing this, Nihalani said, “It is not about that. He has been punctual on my set and even on the last film we worked together. It is not about his timing. He is punctual. Also, he has been on set before time, and he looks completely normal. They are only scared of his spiritual side and certain behavior; otherwise, as an actor, he is fabulous as a family, he is fabulous.
But the actor does not have work today. Nihalani defends Govinda and said, “Each person goes through that phase. Even Amitabh Bachchan and many have gone through it. But I can say one big jump and Govinda will be Number one again, as there is no better actor than Govinda even today.”
