There is a village in Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, where the tradition of giving a fruit plant to the newlywed bride has been started. Similarly, a daughter leaving this village will also be given a sapling in dowry. The villagers had taken this decision in the Panchayat about four months ago. After that, after the first marriage in the village on Saturday, this tradition was formally started by calling the bride and groom in the Panchayat and honoring them by giving them a gooseberry plant. This village is none other than Parasatraai adjacent to Dhamtari.
This village has been in the news before for its global welfare work. Not only Dhamtari, the entire state of Chhattisgarh is proud of the decision of the people of this village. According to village sarpanch Parmanand Aadil, the village panchayat was held on 5 June 2024 on World Environment Day. It was decided that from now on, if a daughter passes away after marriage in the village, the daughter and son-in-law will be given a fruit plant as dowry on behalf of the entire village. Similarly, if a new daughter-in-law comes to the village, she will also be called to the Panchayat and with full respect, she will be given a fruit plant in front of her face.
First marriage took place in the village after the decision
He told that after this decision, the first marriage of Bhupendra Srivas, resident of this village, took place with Vasini Srivas, resident of Pendarwani village. After the procession returned, a Panchayat was called as per its decision and in this, son Bhupendra and daughter-in-law Vasini were called and honored. He told that this tradition has been started with unanimous consent. For this, congratulations are coming from all over the state. He told that this initiative of his village will prove to be a milestone in the direction of environmental protection.
Appreciation is being received across the country
On the other hand, after receiving this unique gift, Vasini and Bhupendra expressed their gratitude to the Panchayat. Assured the Panchayat that he will plant this sapling in the courtyard and will leave no stone unturned in its maintenance. Let us tell you that forests are disappearing rapidly across the country. In such circumstances, the problem of pollution is becoming acute. The Central and all the state governments are making a lot of efforts to deal with this, but due to the lack of interest of the common man, these efforts are not being completely successful. In such a situation, the efforts of this village and its people are being appreciated all over the country.
