Watch: Double Blow! Mohammed Siraj Sends Back Root and Stokes Early on Day 3 of 2nd Test

Mohammed Siraj provided India with a flawless beginning on Day 3 of the second Test against England at Edgbaston as he picked up two big wickets in two successive deliveries. During the second over of the day, he sent back Joe Root and Ben Stokes on consecutive deliveries, putting England in serious trouble.

On the third ball of the 22nd over of England’s innings, Siraj bowled one down the leg side. Root attempted to flick it for runs but could only manage a faint edge. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant

made a clean catch, and the umpire raised his finger immediately. Root departed for 22, quite clearly unhappy.

Next ball, Siraj sent down a fast delivery outside off. Ben Stokes, having arrived to bat, prodded at it and edged it straight to Pant. It was a snappy catch, and Pant did not make any mistake. Stokes was dismissed for a golden duck and was seen extremely dejected on his way to the dug out.

The England side was shaken from 84 for 3 to 84 for 5 within two deliveries. Siraj was on fire and his teammates hurried in to hug him for the major breakthrough. It came as a massive turn of events for India at the start of the day and a massive setback for England as both their experienced batsmen were out in a jiffy.
