Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday announced that the paddy crop will be brought under the state’s Bhavantar scheme, under which farmers will get compensation for the difference between the minimum support price (MSP) and the market price. The announcement was made while addressing the state-level Paddy Mahotsav in Seoni district, where the Chief Minister said the welfare and prosperity of farmers is the top priority of the government.
CM Yadav said, “Farmers are not just food producers but are the true protectors of the earth, who nurture and sustain the society with their tireless hard work. The prosperity of farmers is the foremost commitment of the state government, as the progress of the state and the nation depends on the well-being of the farming community.” He said the traditional paddy variety has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, symbolizing global recognition for the indigenous and traditional agricultural heritage of the state.
CM’s big announcement for farmers
Making a big announcement for paddy growers, CM Yadav said, “Bhavantar scheme will now be extended to paddy crops. Under this scheme, the state government will compensate farmers the difference between the minimum support price (MSP) and the market price.” He also announced that work under the new version of MNREGA, Vikas Bharat Ji-Ram-Ji Yojana, will continue without any interruption to ensure employment opportunities and support to the farming community.
Gifts worth crores and launch of development projects
During the programme, the Chief Minister also transferred a bonus of Rs 2.84 crore at the rate of Rs 1,000 per quintal into the bank accounts of 3,941 Kodo-Kutki (millet) growers under the Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana. He also transferred financial assistance of Rs 365 crore to the accounts of more than 16,754 labor families under the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Sambal) 2.0 Scheme. Along with this, he inaugurated and performed bhoomi pujan of 629 development projects worth Rs 494.16 crore in Seoni district. Seoni district got many new projects
The Chief Minister also announced construction of a four-lane highway between Balaghat and Seoni, a government college in Chamari village of Chhapra block, a metalled road connecting Sagar village to Khatkar, development of a Nagar Van (urban forest) in Chhiriya Palari village and a mini stadium in each assembly constituency of Seoni district.
Appeal to farmers to increase sources of income
Urging farmers to diversify their sources of income, CM Yadav encouraged them to adopt less water-intensive, high-yielding crops along with animal husbandry and fisheries instead of relying only on traditional farming. He assured the farmers that the state government stands firmly with them at every step.
Before addressing the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated the state-level Paddy Mahotsav by planting paddy saplings in a farmer’s field in Seoni. Later he interacted with farmers, had traditional food served by a farmer and planted a mango sapling on the ridge of the farm.
