In Varanasi, women protested on the streets after the stay order of BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, who is serving life imprisonment in the Unnao rape case. The protesters accused the BJP government and said that the party’s support should not be seen in the rallies of the accused leaders. In the protest march taken out from Ambedkar Park to the district headquarters, women wore black bands and tied fists and raised slogans against gender violence, sexual harassment and rape. The protesters demanded quick and fair justice for the victims.
