Dhakshineswar Suresh Earns Wild Card For Bengaluru Open 2026 In Bengaluru

Emerging Indian tennis player Dhakshineswar Suresh has received a wild card for the singles main draw of the Bengaluru Open 2026. Organisers confirmed the entry on 25 December 2025 for the ATP Challenger 125 event’s 10th edition at the S.M. Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru.

The Bengaluru Open 2026, an ATP Challenger 125 tournament, is scheduled from 5 to 11 January 2026. The event offers more than USD 225,000 in prize money and 125 ATP ranking points for the singles champion, making the wild card a significant opportunity for Dhakshineswar at this stage of a growing career.

Standing 6’5″, the 25-year-old has built a reputation for a strong serve and attacking game. Dhakshineswar joined India’s extended Davis Cup World Group I squad in 2024. The player then made a notable Davis Cup debut in September 2025 against Switzerland, delivering a key win on away courts.

During that tie in Switzerland, Dhakshineswar defeated higher-ranked Swiss player Jerome Kym 7-6(4), 6-3. The result gave India an early advantage and contributed to a 3-1 victory on Swiss soil, which was described by officials as a historic outcome for the national Davis Cup team.

Speaking on occasion, Dhakshineswar said, “It’s a proud moment for me to compete at the Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger, especially in front of my home crowd. This tournament has consistently provided Indian players a world class platform to test themselves against top international competition and it’s been an amazing effort by the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and the support, and I look forward to giving my best on court. I hope to see Bengaluru fans cheering for me.”

Dhakshineswar enters the Bengaluru Open 2026 wild card slot after reaching a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 519 in 2025. The player has produced competitive results on both the ITF and ATP Challenger circuits, and also spent time in the U.S. collegiate system with Wake Forest University and Georgia Gwinnett College.

“We are delighted to award a wild card entry into the singles main draw of the Bengaluru Open to Dhakshineshwar Suresh. He has shown strong potential and achievements on the tour in the few events he has played, and was also instrumental in India’s victory in the Davis Cup against Switzerland.

“This opportunity reflects our commitment to supporting emerging talent and strengthening the Indian presence in this ATP Challenger event and we looking forward for a formidable performance by him. We wish Dhakshineshwar Suresh, the very best in the competition and hope this helps him make the required jump in his journey,” said Sunil Yajaman, Tournament Director and Joint Secretary, KSLTA.

Organised by the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association, the Bengaluru Open has become a stable feature of India’s tennis calendar. The Bengaluru Open 2026 wild card for Dhakshineswar will place the player alongside Sumit Nagal and Aryan Shah in the main draw, giving home supporters several Indian names to follow throughout the week-long ATP Challenger 125 event.
