Days After Asia Cup Selection, Shubman Gill Ruled Out Of Major Tournament Due To Illness: Report

Shubman Gill will reportedly miss the upcoming Duldeep Trophy in Bengaluru due to illness. Gill was picked to lead the North Zone team, but according to a report in Cricbuzz, he is unwell and won’t take part in the elite domestic tournament, to be played at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru from August 28. Gill, currently resting in Chandigarh, was either way not going to play the entire tournament, having been picked in the Asia Cup squad.

The tournament will run from August 29 to September 15, and Gill at best would have only featured in the opening game. While the officials of the national and zonal selection committee are yet to confirm Gill’s unavailability, sources close to the India Test captain nodded when asked about Gill’s absence from the tournament.
