Rabies is a dangerous disease
If any animal infected with rabies bites a human being, it is important to get anti-rabies vaccine as soon as possible. If this vaccine is not given then the person gets rabies and once this disease occurs then the person’s life cannot be saved. Humans get rabies due to animal bites, but can this disease also be caused by drinking fake milk of any animal or dog? In such a situation, should a person take anti-rabies vaccine? To know the answers to these questions, we have talked to experts.
Dr. NR Rawat in the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Rajasthan It is said that rabies virus is mainly present in the saliva of the infected animal. It spreads when a dog has rabies. That too when the dog bit him and its saliva came in contact with the open wound, cut. The most common cause of rabies is the bite of a dog or any other animal. It is necessary to take anti-rabies vaccine within 24 hours of animal bite. After this, a course of three or five vaccines has to be completed as per the doctor’s advice. By getting vaccinated, the rabies virus gets eliminated in humans and they do not become victims of this disease.
What happens if a person drinks adulterated milk of an animal?
Regarding this, Dr. Rawat says that no case of infection due to drinking fake milk has been scientifically confirmed. No such case has come up. However, it is important that the milk a person drinks should be boiled. If the milk is heated to a temperature of more than 50 degrees then there is no need to worry. But if you have drunk raw milk then you can get vaccinated as per the doctor’s advice.
Dr SP Pandey, Chief Veterinary Officer, Animal Husbandry Department, Ghaziabad It is said that the rabies virus does not survive for long in the external environment. It gets destroyed. Bites are the reason for the spread of rabies, because till date no such case has been reported where this virus entered the stomach of a person and he got rabies. However, if a person has drunk raw milk and has a blister in his mouth, then there may be a risk of transmission. But if the milk is boiled then there is no risk.
In which cases caution is necessary
If the behavior of the dog that swallows milk is not normal. Do not drink boiled milk. In such cases a doctor should be contacted immediately. The decision whether to get vaccinated or not should be taken only according to the doctor’s advice.
