AAP government in action against pollution in Delhi…Minister Gopal Rai took the lead

The government is concerned about the increasing air pollution in Delhi and is adopting different methods to reduce it. On Tuesday, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai started this campaign by distributing electric heaters to the security guards working in night shift under the Winter Action Plan in Delhi Secretariat.

Gopal Rai said that if we look at the level of pollution in Delhi and entire North India in comparison to previous years, between November 1 and 15, Delhi’s AQI crosses 400. Many times it has even gone above this. But this year till now the AQI of Delhi has not gone into critical condition.

Winter action plan implemented in Delhi

To deal with the problem of air pollution during winter season, the government announced a 21-point Winter Action Plan on 25 September. On the basis of which the concerned departments are working seriously to implement it at the ground level. The government is running many campaigns to reduce pollution, such as anti dust campaign, spraying of bio decomposer, tree plantation campaign and awareness campaign. The government has started spraying water on roads across Delhi with more than 200 mobile anti-smog guns.

anti open burning campaign

Gopal Rai said that burning open fire in winter also increases pollution, that is why the government has started anti open burning campaign in Delhi for 1 month from 6th November. The teams will work 24 hours to monitor and prevent incidents of open burning in Delhi. Government departments, RWAs, construction agencies have been instructed to distribute electric heaters to security guards. So that open burning of biomass and solid waste can be reduced.

Less pollution due to government efforts

Gopal Rai told that till now this year the AQI index of Delhi has not gone into the severe category. There are mainly three factors in this, due to which Delhi’s AQI still remains out of the serious category. First, the long-term efforts made continuously by the government within Delhi.

Under the Second Winter Action Plan, several immediate steps were taken, such as campaign to control dust pollution, steps taken to control vehicle pollution, campaign to stop biomass burning, as well as compared to previous years. This year the incidents of stubble burning have reduced.

With this, the temperature has not decreased that much this year compared to previous years and due to the intermittent increase in wind speed, the level of pollution has not reached the severe category.
