When she was married to Suryadev, she could not bear the Sun’s Tej. One day the goddess noun brought her model shadow and asked her to stay in her place. Chhaya started living as the wife of Sun God. On the other hand, the noun herself came to the earth in the form of horse and started wandering.
The shadow of Sun God was unable to bear the shadow. One day when the sun god came to the shadow with the desire to get children, the color of the shadow turned black and she became pregnant. Shani Dev was born as the son of Chhaya. The day Shani Dev was born was Saturday and Amavasya Tithi. Therefore, Shani Amavasya has special significance from religious terms.
Seeing Shani Dev, the sun god got angry because his color was black. The Sun God told the noun that it could not be my son. After this, the Sun God also came to know that his wife has been in the place of noun for a long time. Surya Dev became even more angry knowing this truth and left Chhaya and Shani Dev and went in search of his first wife noun.
When Shani Dev grew up, he pledged to make himself more influential and powerful than the Sun God and started doing penance to Lord Shiva. Shiva, pleased with the penance of Shani Dev, gave Shani Dev the post of judge and magistrate in the planets. Shivji also blessed that, O Saturn, you will have a special place and respect in the Navagrahas. No one will survive all three people from your justice. You will do justice in view of the deeds of all living beings.
After getting a boon from Shiva, Shani Dev sat in the Navagrahas and was worshiped. Reciting the story of Shani on the day of Shani Amavasya is auspicious, which inspires to get a higher position from deeds.
