Team India’s former star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will soon be seen managing an entire team. Ashwin may not have got the opportunity to captain Team India and he may have got this responsibility only once in the IPL, but now he is going to lead the team again. This team is Dublin Guardians, which will play in the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) which is going to start soon. Former captain of Team India and veteran batsman Rahul Dravid is the owner of this team. This Dravid franchise has included Ashwin as a direct signing.

ETPL, which is going to be Europe’s first (non-English) T20 league sanctioned by ICC, is being jointly organized by the cricket boards of three countries. There is a partnership between Cricket Scotland, Cricket Ireland and Royal Dutch Cricket Association and Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan is the co-owner of this league. 2-2 teams from the three countries are participating in the league, in which Dravid is the owner of the Irish franchise Dublin and Ashwin will play the role of captain in it.

Ashwin will also become a mentor for the first time

The squads of all the teams in this league, which is starting from August 2026, are yet to be announced, for which the draft will be organized on July 2. Before this, all the 6 teams have included some players in their squad as direct signings. In Dublin Guardians, Ashwin will play the role of captain as well as mentor. This will be the first time that Ashwin has been associated as a mentor in a T20 league. Also, this will be only the second foreign league in which he will be seen playing. These days Ashwin is playing for San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket (MLC) in America.
