While reviewing the special intensive revision campaign, the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand gave detailed instructions to the officials for voter list verification, field visits and disposal of claims and objections.
Dehradun. Chief Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam reviewed the special intensive vetting drive with Divisional Commissioners (Role Observers) of Kumaon and Garhwal divisions through video conferencing on Wednesday. During the meeting, he took stock of the progress of the campaign and gave many important instructions to the officials.
Booths with more ‘uncollectible’ voters will be inspected
The Chief Electoral Officer directed that the Divisional Commissioners of both the divisions should conduct field visits to their respective districts and do special inspection of those polling stations where the number of voters marked in ‘uncollectible’ category is high. He also said that the SSD list checked by Divisional Commissioner, District Election Officer (DEO) and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) should also be reviewed in detail.
It will be mandatory to keep record of every comment in ASD list
Dr. Purushottam directed that the Booth Level Officer (BLO) should enter clear remarks on the counting form of each voter included in the Absent, Shifted and Death (ASD) list. He said that signatures of the concerned BLO as well as the members of the Booth Awareness Group (BAG) should be compulsorily taken on these comments, so that the verification process remains completely transparent.
Special action plan will be made after the draft voter list on July 14
The Chief Electoral Officer said that a detailed action plan should be prepared in all the districts to settle the claims and objections received after the publication of the draft voter list on July 14. He informed that around 800 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AERO) along with 70 Electoral Registration Officers (ERO) have been deployed in the state.
He directed the officials to ensure that no voter faces unnecessary hassle during the process of issuing the notice.
Instructions for setting up separate camps in hilly and plain areas
In the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer said that keeping in mind the convenience of the voters in the hilly areas, camps should be organized for disposal of claims and objections at the Nyaya Panchayat level. For this, roster should be prepared in advance. At the same time, to provide facilities to the voters in the plain areas, apart from the Tehsil level, special camps should also be organized at the Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat and Ward level and their roster should be prepared in time.
Many senior officials were present in the meeting
In this review meeting, Kumaon Division Commissioner Deepak Rawat, Garhwal Division Commissioner Anand Swaroop, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das and other senior officers were also present. In the meeting, the completion of the special intensive vetting campaign in an effective and transparent manner was discussed in detail.
