Defending champions Barcelona will kick off their title defence with a home fixture, while Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid also face tricky opening assignments as the race for the Spanish crown gets underway.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético Opening Fixtures

When Will La Liga 2026/27 Start?

The 2026/27 La Liga season will officially begin on the weekend of August 14-15, 2026, just a few weeks after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup.

The campaign will conclude on May 30, 2027, bringing another thrilling Spanish football season to an end.

The calendar has once again been adjusted following the FIFA World Cup, ensuring clubs have sufficient preparation time before returning to domestic action.

As usual, all 20 clubs will play 38 league matches, with every team facing each opponent twice during the competition.

Three clubs have secured promotion to La Liga for the 2026/27 season after impressive performances in the Segunda Division.

Levante

Levante earned automatic promotion after finishing at the top of the Segunda Division standings. They return to La Liga determined to establish themselves once again among Spain’s elite.

Elche

Elche also secured automatic promotion following an outstanding campaign in the second tier. Their consistency throughout the season helped them book a return to the top flight.

Malaga
