Ranchi News: On the first day of the Jharkhand monsoon session, there was a demand to give Bharat Ratna to late former CM Shibu Soren. Chief Minister Hemant Soren and opposition leaders recalled Guruji’s contribution. Also, the government presented a supplementary budget of Rs 4,296.62 crore.

Jharkhand Assembly Session 2025: The monsoon session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly started again on Friday. On the very first day in the House, there was a demand to give ‘Bharat Ratna’ to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, the pioneer of the Jharkhand movement. Congress Legislature Party leader Pradeep Yadav made this demand during the condolence motion. He said that Shibu Soren played an important role in the rights of social reform, tribal and deprived society and the movement of separate state and to express respect for him, the House should unanimously pass a resolution to give him Bharat Ratna. Earlier, the House leader Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi praised Guruji’s personality and movements. Remember his works.

The assembly described Guruji’s death as the end of an era

Earlier, Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahato described Guruji’s death as the end of an era. He also said that the great mass movement standing with him, Ujja Jharkhand, is giving proof of Baba’s immortality. Guruji was not only a great politician, but also the most prominent flag bearer of Jharkhandi identity and culture. It would not be appropriate to consider Guruji as only a politician. It would be impossible to understand the widespread perspective of the Jharkhand state building movement without understanding the prevalence of their movement. He also discussed topics like Guruji’s Tundi Ashram, Conscious Basi’s construction.

Demand to realize the dream of prohibition

Several members present in the House supported the demand by patting the table. Janata Dal United MLA Saryu Rai also said in his statement during the condolence meeting that the contribution of Shibu Soren, famous as Dishom Guru, should be honored at the national level. Saryu Rai supported the demand for Bharat Ratna to him. AJSU party MLA Nirmal Mahato also passed a proposal to give Bharat Ratna to Shibu Soren to the Central Government by passing a proposal to the Central Government. Jairam Mahato, MLA of Jharkhand Democratic Kranti Morcha, demanded to install the statue of Shibu Soren and top Jharkhand agitators on the top of Jharkhand’s highest hill Parasnath. Pradeep Yadav demanded to give Bharat Ratna to Guruji and also demanded Guruji to realize the dream of prohibition. Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi praised Guruji’s personality and movements. He recalled his actions.

Supplementary budget of Rs 4,296.62 crore presented

The Jharkhand government on Friday presented a supplementary budget of Rs 4,296.62 crore for the current financial year 2025-26 in the Assembly. Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore presented the first supplementary budget of the current financial year. These demands are to be discussed on 25 August. Supplementary demands of the current financial year were to be introduced on 4 August, but they could not be presented due to the postponement of the House in honor of former Chief Minister Shibu Soren. Shibu Soren died on 4 August. Earlier in March, Kishore presented an annual budget of Rs 1.45 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26 in the state assembly.

House will run till 28 August

Tributes were paid to the late Education Minister Ramdas Soren, former Governor Satyapal Mallik, senior journalist Harinarayan Singh and those killed in the recent natural disasters in Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir. After condolences, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till Monday. The monsoon session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly was scheduled from 1 August to 7 August 2025, but it was postponed indefinitely due to the death of former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Dishom Guru Shibu Soren on 4 August. The supplementary monsoon session has started from 22 August, which will run till August 28.
