Bihar Sir: Supreme Court reprimanded 12 political parties, gave these special instructions. Bihar Voter List Revision Sir Controversy 2025 Supreme Court Hearing

Bihar Voterlist Revision: The Supreme Court has directed political parties about SIR in Bihar to help people out of the draft voter list to register claims and objections. Aadhaar card can be used as a document.

Supreme Court Hearing: In Bihar, SIR (Special Intensive Revision) is being done by the Election Commission to keep the correct name in the voter list. Opposition parties have accused the Election Commission of cutting the names of millions of people from the voter list. Petitions have been filed against the ongoing SIR in Bihar. On Friday, the Supreme Court heard the case. The court reprimanded the political parties of Bihar for not helping people who were out of draft electoral rolls to file claims and objections.

A two -member bench headed by Justice Suryakant heard. The bench directed 12 political parties to instruct their workers to help people in filing complaints through 11 documents or Aadhaar cards mentioned by the Election Commission. The court said that it is not currently changing the time-limit of this process. In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had said that people whose names have been removed from the draft list can present their Aadhaar card to challenge this list. Justice Kant said,

All 12 political parties of Bihar will issue instructions to party workers to help people fill and submit the necessary forms. For this, you can use 11 documents or Aadhaar card mentioned in Form 6.

Two objections were registered with Election Commission in Bihar

The Election Commission said that there are more than 1.68 lakh booth-tier agents (BLA) of political parties in Bihar. Even after this, only two objections have been recorded so far. The Supreme Court expressed surprise at this.

The opposition alleges that SIR in Bihar will be taken away from the right to vote from millions of voters. The names of about 65 lakh voters have been removed from the draft voter list released by the Election Commission on 1 August. Opposition parties have accused the Election Commission of making a big disturbance. The court said on this,

We are surprised at the inaction of political parties. After appointing BLA (booth-level agent), what are they doing? Why is there a distance between people and local political persons? Political parties should help voters. The BLA of all political parties has to investigate what is the status of 65 lakh people not included in the draft role. They have died or have changed their residence at their own will.
