In Karnal, Haryana, a pet dog saved its owner’s life by fighting a black cobra. 9 year old dog Jimmy died due to snake bite. CCTV footage of this loyalty incident has gone viral.
Karnal: A heart-wrenching case of loyalty and courage has come to light from Karnal district of Haryana. Here a pet dog sacrificed its life to save its owner from a poisonous black cobra. The CCTV footage of this entire incident has now gone viral, in which the dog’s fearless fight despite being bitten by the snake several times has been captured. This incident took place in Nissing area of Karnal on Sunday evening. Nine-year-old Jimmy, the family’s beloved pet dog, sprang into action when a black cobra slithered towards the gate of his master’s house.
According to Jimmy’s owner Sumit Thakur, the incident happened around 6 pm when he was taking his two pet dogs, Jimmy and Max, out for a walk as usual. As soon as they reached the gate, suddenly a black cobra appeared nearby. Before Sumit could understand anything, both the dogs broke free and ran towards the snake. Jimmy led the attack and attacked the cobra repeatedly with his claws, while the snake spread its hood in defence. During this fierce fight, the cobra bit Jimmy on the mouth and one of his paws.
Despite the poisonous sting, Jimmy did not step back. He kept fighting the cobra, while Max kept circling around the snake so that it could not enter inside the house and become a major threat to the family. However, within a few minutes the deadly poison started showing its effects. Sumit told that Jimmy’s condition started deteriorating rapidly and within about eight minutes the poison spread throughout his body. Amidst this chaos, the cobra managed to run away and hide near a wall.
Immediately a snake charmer was called to the spot, who caught the cobra safely and released it in the nearby forest. Sumit even ran to call a vet, but before medical help could reach Jimmy succumbed to the poison. Sumit believes that Jimmy saved his life. With tears in his eyes, he narrated how that faithful companion died in front of his eyes just minutes after saving him from the dangerous snake. Jimmy was a valued member of the family for nearly nine years. According to Sumit, he was brought up like the baby of the family and was taken complete care of in every season.
