What does online gaming bill 2025 do?
Encourages e-sport and social-ejaculation sports. E-sports are officially recognized as a sport and the government also provides assistance for professional training, awareness programs and research. The bill promotes skills and educational based games, which promote digital literacy and creativity.

Real money gaming and ban on online betting
Any game that offers cash winning or which includes the deposit amount for the award is completely banned in this law. Apart from skill based or chances based, it also includes games with combinations of both.
Ban on advertising and financial transactions of restricted sports
Under this law, banks and payment service providers cannot process any transactions related to sports with real money games. The promotion, advertisement and sponsorship of such sports is illegal. The objective of this law is to protect users from any kind of addiction, financial loss, money laundering and Terror Financing.
Major provisions in the bill
1- E-Sports are recognized as a valid game. The government itself supports their training and competition.
2- Social and educational gaming is promoted. It should be safe and skill based.
3- Ban on real money based gaming. All types of online games that have deposited money and lure reward are completely banned.
4- The formation of a Central Authority to monitor online games and to catarise them.
5- Imprisonment of up to 3 years for violation, fined up to ₹ 1 crore.
6- Celebrity and effective person’s responsibility on supporting the restricted platform. 2 years in jail, fine of up to ₹ 50 lakh.
7- Authorities authorized for searching or seizure including digital platform without any warrant.
8- The restrictions of this bill also apply to platforms outside India, which target Indian users.
