How much salary does the air hostess of Pakistan Airlines, sold for Rs 4,317 crore, get?

Air hostess of Pakistan International Airlines

Pia air hostess salary: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been a topic of discussion for a long time. Various speculations were being made about the future of this government airline, which is drowned in debt and losses, but now the picture has become clear. Pakistan International Airlines has been bought by Arif Habib Consortium. This deal has been done for 135 billion Pakistani rupees, which is approximately Rs 4,317 crore in Indian currency.

While on one hand the discussion about this historic auction is in full swing, on the other hand another question is stirring in the minds of common people. The question is, how much salary do the employees working there, especially the air hostesses and cabin crew, get when it comes to selling the airline?

What is the salary of PIA air hostess?

Salary of PIA cabin crew. The salary structure of PIA air hostesses in Pakistan is quite interesting. According to media reports, the initial monthly earnings of a newly recruited air hostess can be between 80,000 to 1,20,000 Pakistani rupees.

But, this is just the initial picture. In this profession, ‘allowance’ has more importance than ‘base salary’. When allowances like housing allowance, medical facilities, travel perks and insurance are added to the total earnings of an experienced cabin crew member, this amount becomes quite huge. If we look at the figures, the total monthly salary can go up to 5,00,000 Pakistani rupees. At the same time, its average is around Rs 2,85,000, which is a huge amount considering the current economic condition of Pakistan.

PIA’s dominance compared to private airlines

It is often believed that private sector earns more money than government institutions, but the matter is a little different in Pakistan’s aviation sector. Salaries in PIA increase rapidly with experience and rank (such as purser or supervisor), especially for crew members who fly international routes.

If we compare PIA with other private airlines of Pakistan, the difference is clear. The estimated salary in ‘Serene Air’ is Rs 70,000 to Rs 1,00,000 per month. At the same time, ‘Airblue’ offers its crew around Rs 65,000 to 95,000 per month along with housing allowance. It is clear from these figures that despite all the financial crises, the earnings of senior staff working in PIA are in a much better situation than that of private companies.

Will the situation improve after the sale?

Under this big deal, PIA has auctioned 75 percent of its shares. According to reports, a large part of the amount of Rs 135 billion that will be received from the auction, i.e. about 92.5 percent, will be spent on the improvement and restructuring of the airline. This money is very important to re-strengthen the shaky foundation of the airline.

At present there are a total of 32 aircraft in the PIA fleet. These include models like Airbus A320, Boeing 737, Airbus A330 and Boeing 777, famous for long distance flights. After the new ownership, it is expected that there will be improvement in the maintenance and services of these aircraft.
