India’s Aditya Ruhela (DUPR 5.874) topped the men’s singles rankings in the latest list released by the PWR (Pickleball World Rankings).
Aditya, who became the national champion at the IPA Pickleball Nationals in January, garnered 1780 points. Aditya, who had reached the final after a resounding 15-0 win over fourth seed Ritesh Jaiswal, faced Harsh Mehta in the title decider. Mehta had beaten 18th seed Nishaan Singh 15-2 in the semis.
While Mehta, seeded ninth, began with a good point, it was all Ruhela thereafter as he didn’t give the Maharashtra player any space. He won 11-2, 11-2.
Trailing Aditya is Armaan Bhatia, who accumulated 1505 points and has a DUPR rating of 6.171. Bhatia rose to prominence in July after becoming the first Indian to clinch successive APP Tour gold medals, winning the men’s singles crown at the New Port Beach Open by thumping Patrick Kawka in the final. This title came on the back of his commanding win at the New York City Open in May, where he beat Alex Crum and became the first Indian pickler to win an APP Tour title.
He recently struck a coveted PPA Tour deal with UPA and earned a wildcard entry to the PPA Tour Asia event, the Hong Kong Open, scheduled for August 21-24.
At the third spot is Dusty Boyer of the United States, who has garnered 1225 points, followed by Joey Wild of Australia. Aryaan Bhatia, who competed at the inaugural PPA Tour Asia event at the Malaysia Open, is standing at the fifth spot with 855 points.
