Students’ protest has intensified in Varanasi over the alleged cough syrup containing codeine case. NSUI demonstrated in a Gandhian manner and demanded strict action and bulldozer action against the accused. Police have issued a look out notice on the main accused.

Varanasi. The increasing cases of cough syrup containing alleged codeine in the state has created a stir from politics to the streets. On one hand, political parties are busy accusing each other, while on the other hand, student organizations have opened a front against the government. In Varanasi, students registered a peaceful but symbolic protest regarding this matter and demanded strict action against the accused.

Look out notice on main accused, police action

In the cough syrup case, Varanasi Police has issued a look out notice against four people including the main accused Shubham Jaiswal. Police say that the accused is out of the country and the search for him is going on. At the same time, opposition parties and student organizations are demanding from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take strict action like bulldozing against the accused.

Peaceful demonstration of students near Gandhiji’s statue

NSUI students protested in a Gandhian manner at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth University regarding this entire matter. Near the statue of Gandhiji, students registered their protest against the government by tying black bands on their faces. During the protest, students alleged that the police have so far failed to arrest the main accused.

“The accused is releasing videos from abroad”

NSUI workers say that the main accused Shubham Jaiswal is continuously releasing videos while sitting abroad and is out of the reach of the police. Students raised the question that despite such a big case, why effective action is not being taken against the accused.

NSUI’s direct attack on the government

NSUI State President Rishabh Pandey, while targeting the state government, said that despite such a serious case coming to light, no concrete action has been taken against the accused till now. He said that the “Baba’s bulldozer” which is talked about has not yet reached the house of the accused.

Demand for justice for the victims

Rishabh Pandey also alleged that the young students who died allegedly related to this case in Madhya Pradesh have not yet received justice. He warned that until strict action is taken against the culprits and strict punishment is given, NSUI will continue its protest in a democratic and peaceful manner.

Demand for fair investigation and strict action

During the demonstration, the students demanded from the government a fair investigation into the case, early arrest of the main accused and strict legal action against all the culprits. He says that if concrete steps are not taken in time, this issue can take the form of a more widespread movement.
