Bhopal. Whoever visits the ‘B-7, Civil Line’ bungalow of Madhya Pradesh Government Cabinet Minister Prahlad Singh Patel in Bhopal, definitely takes a look at a cupboard kept in the drawing room. Which everyone understands as lab material when they see it for the first time. But when one goes near them, they find hundreds of small and big glass vials in which the sacred water and soil of more than 108 rivers of Madhya Pradesh have been preserved.
Trying to save biodiversity
Patel told that ‘Biodiversity’ is an important part of the environment. Especially you should visit the areas around rivers. It is an eternal truth that biodiversity has been extremely rich in wild life and agricultural crop species. But we sidelined it in the name of our greed, personal interest and so-called development.
Minister collected water during ‘Narmada Parikrama’
I did my first ‘Narmada Parikrama’ in 1994. Biodiversity around Narmada River now; It was not like that at all. This change is not good for the environment. Two years ago we started ‘Udgam Manas Yatra’. Till this year, I have reached the origin places of more than 108 rivers. During the journey, it seemed as if God indicated that the sacred water and soil of this place of origin should be preserved. So that it can be useful in ‘biodiversity’ research even after 100-150 years.
Why has the minister taken this unique resolution?
These have been divided into three parts. Some water soils will be useful for research after 10-20 years, some after that and the rest will be preserved for future generations. It is my resolve that this effort of mine should be useful in returning ‘biodiversity’ to its natural form. It is our duty to preserve the original qualities of soil and water. There is a supreme religion towards the environment.
PM Modi and Mohan Bhagwat have praised
Patel pledges to the people in the programs to worry about the revival and conservation of life-giving rivers, so that future generations do not curse us. He says that the glaciers are shrinking, the Himalayas are shifting. It’s a topic of concern Patel has presented the book ‘Parikrama’ written on Narmada Parikrama and water and soil collected from the sources of 108 rivers in the box to RSS chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat. Bhagwat had also praised his efforts. Patel has also gifted the water and soil of 108 rivers to Prime Minister Modi. PM Modi also praised him. Patel says that these vials have been specially prepared so that the water and soil remain in their original nature for centuries.
