New Delhi: Rinku Singh was in a sensational form in the ongoing UPT20 League in Lucknow as the left-handed batter silenced the critics with a blazing century. Rinku led from the front for the Meerut Mavericks side as his power-packed ton helped them beat Gaur Gorakhpur Lions comprehensively at the Ekana stadium.
Rinku slammed 108 runs off just 48 balls studded with 8 sixes and 7 fours as the Mavericks rode on the skipper’s knock after losing the first four wickets cheaply. Rinku, who was recently named in the 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, has justified his selection for the continental tournament with the fiery hundred.

Meanwhile, his unbeaten ton helped the Mavericks chase down 168 runs with seven balls to spare after the Gorakhpur Lions scored 167 in the stipulated 20 overs. The second-last over of the innings provided entertainment at its best as the flamboyant batter smacked three sixes off three balls off bowler Vasu Vats getting to his ton in just 45 balls.
Apart from Rinku, Sahab Yuvraj scored 22 runs off as many balls giving an able support to the skipper from the other end. Prince Yadav, Vasu Vats, Abdul Rehman and Vijay Yadav claimed a wicket each for the Lions. Batting first, skipper Dhruv Jurel top-scored with 38 runs while Nishant Kushwaha smashed 37 runs as Gorakhpur Lions managed to reach a respectable total.
Shivam Sharm okayed an unbeaten knock of 25 runs in just 14 balls to lift the team’s total above 150-run mark. For Meerut, Vishal Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar claimed three wickets each while Zeeshan Ansari picked up 2 wickets. By virtue of the win, Meerut climbed to the third position in the standings. For Meerut, this was the second win in the league while Lions suffered their second loss.
