Kashi Vishwanath Temple Touch Darshan: With the arrival of the New Year, there is a flood of Shiva devotees in the religious city of Kashi. Devotees from all over the country and the world are reaching Varanasi to attend the court of Baba Vishwanath. In view of the tremendous pressure from the crowd, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust has taken a big decision. The temple administration has completely banned Sparsh Darshan for devotees from December 24 to January 3. Let us know what these Sparsh Darshan are and how they are done, for which the devotees are so eager.

How does touch darshan happen?

Sparsh Darshan has special spiritual significance in Kashi Vishwanath Temple. In this, devotees can directly go inside the sanctum sanctorum and touch the Jyotirlinga. Sparsh Darshan means receiving the blessings of a deity by touching its sacred idol or things related to it. Whereas in ordinary darshan we see only with our eyes, but during sparsh darshan devotees can touch the Shivalinga of Baba Vishwanath and keep their head there. And water and Bel leaves can be offered directly. Therefore Sparsh Darshan is a very emotional moment for the devotees. On normal days, time is fixed for Sparsh Darshan, but when the crowd increases, it is stopped due to security and order.

How will darshan happen now?

After the ban on Sparsh Darshan, now devotees will be able to see only tableau darshan. Devotees will have to have darshan of Baba from the doorstep outside the sanctum sanctorum. Due to this, the queues keep moving continuously and more people are able to have darshan in less time.

Why was this decision taken?

Due to Christmas holidays and New Year celebrations, currently two to two and a half lakh devotees are reaching Kashi every day. It is estimated that on December 31 and January 1, this number may cross 6 lakh. In order to provide safe and accessible darshan to such a large crowd, the administration has stopped Sparsh Darshan and implemented the system of tableau darshan only.
