New Delhi: Ishan Kishan celebrated his comeback to the Indian national team in style, smashing a 33-ball century on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kishan, who earned a recall to the national set-up after two years after being selected in India’s squads for New Zealand T20Is and T20 World Cup 2026, smashed the second-fastest List A century by an Indian in Jharkhand’s Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 opener against Karnataka on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad.
Kishan’s 33-ball century is the fastest in Elite Group history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His 125-run knock off 39 deliveries included 7 fours and 14 sixes at a stunning strike rate of 320.51.
The knock on Wednesday comes just after the news of Kishan’s selection for the T20 World Cup 2026, which came in the aftermath of his exploits in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Kishan led from the front and guided Jharkhand to their maiden SMAT title with a win over Haryana last week.
Kishan continues blazing form
On Wednesday, Kishan took Karnataka bowlers to the cleaners, scoring 40 runs off 11 deliveries from Vijaykumar Vyshak and 24 runs off 6 balls from Abhilash Shetty.
Kishan surpassed Suryavanshi to become the second-fastest Indian to score a List A century, overtaking his record of a 36-ball century in the game against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi on Wednesday.
